The Interventional Cardiology Unit at St Vincent’s Hospital is a central pillar of the St Vincent’s Heart Lung Program.
Led by Prof David Muller, the team provides transformative cardiac treatments, including valve replacements or repairs, closure of heart defects, and artery widening using stents. This unit serves both public and private patients, ensuring the delivery of top-tier care through a dedicated specialist team while enhancing operational efficiencies.
A total grant of $2.5 million from the JW & M Cunningham Foundation made over two years is helping to fund the redevelopment of three new interventional cardiology labs, a vital infrastructure project that will support the ongoing expansion of this essential service. The service’s successful operation across our two hospitals also demonstrates how the operational gains from co-locating facilities can benefit patients through efficient care delivery.
