Fellow in Prostate CancerDr Samantha Shekar

New Fellow’s position plays a crucial role at St Vincent’s NELUNE Men’s Health Centre to lead the way in better outcomes in Men’s Health.

Navigating the health care system to obtain treatment and long-term support for prostate cancer can be complex and, in many cases, expensive. The typical pathway involves a referral from a GP to a urologist in the private health care system. Financial challenges can often deter patients from seeking treatment, while pathways through the public health care system often lead to significantly less successful patient outcomes.

Supporting the delivery of the new model of care for Men’s Health and working closely with the urology and oncology teams at St Vincent’s, Dr Shekar’s role supports the review of patients in all the Genitourinary (GU) clinics at The Kinghorn Cancer Centre. This covers a range of tumour types including prostate, bladder, renal and testicular cancer.
